Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon 6 Gen 3: Mid-Range Chipset Upgrade
Qualcomm has quietly introduced its newest mid-range chipset, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Launched without fanfare, the new processor aims to build upon the capabilities of its predecessor, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, while adopting features from the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 with slight adjustments. This chipset is designed to cater to mid-range smartphones with improved AI, better performance, and camera capabilities.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset comes equipped with an octa-core CPU, featuring four high-performance Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and four efficiency-focused Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8 GHz. The chipset offers support for Full HD+ displays with a 120 Hz refresh rate, slightly lower than the 144 Hz supported by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2. The Adreno 710 GPU provides ample graphical performance for everyday tasks and casual gaming.
In terms of photography, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is capable of handling single sensors up to 200 MP, providing a significant upgrade in camera performance for mid-range devices. It also supports 48 MP Zero Shutter Lag (ZSL) functionality, allowing for near-instantaneous capture times. Video recording is supported at 4K resolution at 30 fps, ensuring high-quality footage.
