Samsung Could Be Forced To Charge a 30% Premium For Its Galaxy S25 Series
The long-rumored Exynos 2500 continues to stay off the radar, while Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is set to make an exclusive appearance. This situation could lead Samsung to increase the price of the Galaxy S25 series by up to 30%, as it might be forced to launch with a single chipset option.
Earlier, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had pointed out that due to Samsung’s poor 3nm GAA yields, the Exynos 2500 would not be ready in time, forcing Samsung to solely use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in the Galaxy S25 series. Despite Samsung’s insistence on a dual-chipset approach with the Exynos 2500 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, the lack of a clear launch date for its in-house SoC makes this unlikely.
Insiders suggest that Qualcomm could demand higher prices from Samsung, particularly if it opts to integrate the Snapdragon X80 modem in the Galaxy S25 models. This adds another layer of cost and uncertainty, further straining Samsung’s pricing strategy.
Despite Samsung’s assurances of stable 3nm yields, the Exynos 2500 is yet to be announced, raising questions about the viability of a dual-chipset release for the Galaxy S25 series. With time running out, Samsung’s reliance on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 seems almost certain.
Qualcomm’s grip on the chipset market continues to strengthen with its dual-variant strategy for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, offering both Wi-Fi-only and 5G-integrated models. Samsung’s decision on which version to include could further impact the final cost of the Galaxy S25 lineup.
As Samsung faces mounting pressure from Qualcomm’s pricing strategies and its own production challenges, it remains to be seen how the company will navigate these hurdles. For now, all eyes are on whether Samsung can deliver a balanced approach that doesn’t alienate its loyal customer base with steep price hikes.
